2004-03-13

Afghanistan’s woman journalists held an educational and consultative conference on March 3-4. This was the woman journalists’ fourth conference in one year.

On the second day of the conference, elections were held for a 5-member board of management. The elected members are: Jamila Omar, Najiba Maram, Nahid Bashardost, Mary Nabard-Ain and Parwin [Sadat].

The management board will have to draw up the constitution of the Afghan Woman Journalists’ Form and [elect] its President.

[Note: The conference was organised by the Afghan Women Journalists’ Forum, supported by UNIFEM and USAID/Women in Development.]
