A Lonely Path, Which Can not be Traveled Alone

A number of us, as human beings, at some point in our lives, are caught by a certain discomfort in our status quo, a certain nostalgia for an unknown, an inexplicable longing. And, as Joseph Campbell puts it, this call will be answered by a certain invitation, taking innumerable forms. If we choose to reply to that invitation, so the journey begins.

A universal pattern has proved to exist among all cultures regarding the different phases of this journey, from Indian shamanism to Islamic mysticism. In all these mystic cultures, the hero seems to break through certain challenges before being cleansed of impurities, being healed, being liberated and therefore being ready to move to a deeper level, becoming closer to that higher, cosmic Self.

The experience of this higher Self cannot be realized without the undoing of many of our learned past, our limiting beliefs, our dictated roles. We have to deconstruct, to destroy. At a social level, as women, and as men, we shall vanish in our defined roles, before reappearing as human beings. At a personal one, we shall release that inner child from the illusory attachments to parents, which might recurrently manifest themselves in our relationships. In other words, we would have to die in our past before being born in a liberated present.

In our age, we might have sought illumination through books, through our psychotherapists, through our gurus, through attending different seminars and techniques. Sometimes we have found it in our interactions with our children, in some words pronounced casually by a friend, or by observing our pet or some elements in nature. They have all been precious.

However, sometimes, we feel lost, tired and lonely, not knowing whether we are still on the right track. There are moments that we wish we had never started. And, it is at the darkest moments that suddenly a thread of light pierces through our hearts and brightens it up with a blast of Eshgh and joy and serenity.

The vision for creating these web pages is to create a space for those threads of light to emerge through sharing with other travelers what we have been and are going through. Do write to us! Do share your questions and your insights! Perhaps, perhaps, your questions or your insights might pave the way for another for a smoother breakthrough.
" If we choose to reply to that invitation, so the journey begins. "
