Mission:

  • To serve as an advocate – the collective and most effective voice for female Iranian Artists.

  • To expand public awareness, appreciation and acquisition of female Iranian Artists.

Your contribution will help display the richness, complexity, and diversity of the culture while combating the traditional and negative stereotypes of Iranian women.


Members Benefits:

The main webpage of the Art Club is easily navigable from the IranDokht homepage and visitors can search the artwork by looking under two directories (the artist’s name or discipline). As a member, you will have an artist’s corner where your artwork, biography/profile, critics’ reviews, and latest announcements will be readily available to visitors. Two searchable directories will also be available for artists and their works: One of artists by name and the other, by discipline.

Seasonal exhibitions will provide additional exposure and promotional space for your artwork. The theme for each exhibition will be announced online, after which member and guest artists will be invited to participate by submitting artwork. With the approval of the art committee, these artworks would then be put on exhibit.

Also available are an online bulletin board, where you will be allowed an unlimited number of postings, as well as a chatroom space which members will be able to use for two hours per week for meetings or programs. These forums will provide you with the opportunity to discuss any issues or problems that you may be facing with your artwork and allow you to delve into the support of a community of artists with similar backgrounds and experiences.

As part of the already established and popular IranDokht website, the Art Club will benefit from its regular displays on the IranDokht homepage (with over 3000 unique visitors per day), announcements in IranDokht weekly newsletters (distributed to over 330,000 people), and recognition by a large number of universities, mainstream media, as well as several art galleries, exhibitions, and festivals. Furthermore, with IranDokht often being displayed on the first page of many search engines, your cyber recognition is guaranteed. Last but not least, the Art Club would be engaged in negotiating advantageous terms and support for working and emerging artist members.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

Membership of a professional body in the art field would be sufficient, otherwise we require the following as the minimum standard of achievement to become a member:

  • Acting: One publicly screened movie or professional onstage play

  • Dance choreographer/performer: One professional public performance

  • Fashion designer/model: One professional public fashion show

  • Film: One publicly screened film

  • Journalist: One year experience in a professional media as a journalist

  • Music: One professional public performance

  • Painting/caricature: One public exhibition

  • Play writer: One published work or onstage work

  • Writer/poet: Publication of at least one book

Membership Categories and Fees:

Artist:

  • Inclusion in the two directories: $60 per year

  • Personal corner plus inclusion in two directories: $260 registration and maintenance fee for the first year; $150 per year for the following years. This includes an hour of free assistance with updates per year. Charges for more than an hour of assistance will be $30 per hour.

  • Sponsor Artists: $500 plus for the first year; $300 plus per year for the following years.

Art organizations, galleries, festivals, exhibitions:
  • Inclusion in two directories: $60 per year.

  • Personal corner: plus inclusion in two directories: $260 registration and maintenance fee for the first year; $150 per year for the following years. This includes an hour of free assistance with updates per year. Charges for more than an hour of assistance will be $30 per hour.

Materials to Supply:

  • Profile: Max two paragraphs (typed and edited in Microsoft Word doc. file)

  • Pictures: Max eight pictures of your work and one of yourself. The pictures must be in JPG format and 72 dpi with a length not exceeding 450 pixels.

  • Links: Max three links to your website, reviews, articles, exhibitions about your work. Alternatively, you could send us text that has been typed and edited on a Microsoft Word doc. file.

  • Latest announcement: One line text about the latest development in your work (latest book, film, CD, exhibition, review, performance, report, etc)

  • Language: English, Persian (profile and review possible but not encouraged)

Please send your information and images of your artwork by email as an attachment. If you have a website or your work is presented on the web, please send us the URL so that we can obtain the information and images from there. Finally, you could copy your work and information onto a CD and send it to us. Kindly note that the CDs you send us would not be returned however. PLEASE DO NOT MAIL ANY ART WORK.
